About the URL Parser

This tool breaks an absolute URL into its parts using the browser's standard URL parser (the WHATWG URL Standard): protocol, username, password, host, port, path and fragment, plus the origin and a list of path segments. Query parameters are decoded into an editable key/value table, so a long tracking link or OAuth redirect becomes readable at a glance.

Every field is editable. Change the host, remove a parameter or add a new one, and the Rebuilt URL below updates with correct percent-encoding. It runs in your browser, so URLs containing session IDs or signed tokens stay on your machine.

How to use it

  1. Paste a full URL, including the scheme (for example https://).
  2. Read the components and the query parameter table.
  3. Edit any field, or use Add and the remove buttons to change parameters.
  4. Copy the rebuilt URL, or click Use as input to parse it again.

Examples

Common questions

Why is my URL "not a valid absolute URL"?

The parser needs a scheme. example.com/page is a relative reference; add https:// in front.

Why is the port empty?

Browsers omit the port when it's the default for the scheme, such as 443 for https or 80 for http. An empty port means the default is used.

Why did spaces turn into + in the rebuilt URL?

Query parameters are serialized as application/x-www-form-urlencoded, which encodes a space as +. Servers decode + and %20 in the query string the same way.
